Hello everyone,

Here I am again writing this blog, this time from New York. Last time I wrote to you all was
after my Wimbledon win earlier this summer. I know it was a couple of days after but I made
it … so here I am again, excited and happy to write this blog. It kind of brings me good luck,
but the most important thing is that it allows me to communicate directly with all of you and
tell you what I think, what I feel.

我又再一次來寫這個部落格，這次是從紐約。上一次我寫給你們大家是在我早前夏天時贏得溫網過後。

我知道是溫網後幾天，但我完成了...所以我又來了，帶著興奮跟開心的來寫這個部落格。它帶給我一些

好運，但最重要的是它讓我能直接跟你們溝通，並且告訴你們我的想法跟感覺。

Let me start by saying that I got here to NY 10 days ago. I came straight from Cincinnati after
I lost in the quarter finals against Baghdatis. Since then I have been practicing as much as I
could here in NY. I say that since it rained a lot the week previous to the event. However I
got in good practice time and I feel ready.

讓我從告訴你們我十天前抵達紐約開始。我在辛辛那提QF輸給Baghdatis之後就直接來到紐約。

從那之後，我持續盡可能地多練習。雖然在美網前一週下了不少雨，然而我的練習狀況不錯，而且

It is really hot in New York City. It might sound strange from some one like me, from Mallorca,
used to the sun, but it really is. These last three days have been horrible and I have to say
that to play during the day it must have been tough. I practiced today and warm up
yesterday when the sun was out and wow, it was hot.

紐約的天氣真的很熱。從像我這樣來自馬洛卡的人聽到這種話也許有點怪，在馬洛卡習慣了陽光，

但天氣真的很熱。過去三天的天氣實在很恐怖，而且我必須說，這幾天在這天氣下比賽實在很辛苦。

我今天的練習跟昨天的熱身都是在大太陽下，哇，好熱。

I played yesterday at night so that’s not that bad. Tomorrow, Friday I am also playing at
night apparently so that’s better for the heat although it is announced that we might have
a hurricane coming!!! Hopefully not. I remember a couple of years ago and it was a mess
with scheduling. I think that’s one of the worst things in tennis: the rain!

 Anyway, I am practicing early at 10.45 so I suppose it is not as bad as at 3 or 4 pm! You
might wonder at what time I leave the hotel? Well with the NY traffic you’d better be careful.
I would leave at 9.15 or so, so that I have time enough to get to the site and get ready for
practice.

總之，我會在早上10:45的時候練球，所以我猜天氣不會像下午3、4時那麼糟糕!你們也許在想我幾點

RN: Yes, I always listen to music before a match and during the day. I love music. After the match I don’t usually listen to music though. I have too much work to do!

5. On your bag you have coloured stars for each Grand Slam you won, what colour will the star be if you win the US open? Cedrine

Hello everyone, Let me just say that I had a terrible practice today and wasn’t happy at all.
It is strange.

I really started well, the first 45 minutes but when I played I didn’t do well. We play this game
called 11, and that is a tie-break to 11 but with no serve. You just put the ball in play. I lost
every single one.

So I was really upset and decided to stop and think about what’s going on. I know that
tomorrow’s match is a tricky one, one of those matches where everybody thinks I have to
win and win easy, but instead it is a very difficult match against a player who is playing really
well lately.

RN: I have to improve my serve that is actually better this week and I also have to improve my backhand. Play more like in Wimbledon. Tennis is difficult also because the opponent.

RN: I enjoyed playing in Sweden. Both BASTAD and Stockholm are great events and had a good time there. Hopefully one day.

10. You said you were going to the mall. Did you buy new toys like an iPad or new computer and how do you like it? Marissa

RN: I did buy a new laptop and in Toronto the tournament gave all quarter-finalists an iPad and we are enjoying it.

Clearly doing this blog brings me good luck. Here we are on the second week of the US Open.
This is very important. The second week of the grand slam is that kind of strange good feeling.
The players’ lounge is not anymore packed and the locker room is also very quite. As I say
strange feeling but good since you are at those stages where the final weekend gets closer.

顯然寫這個部落格帶給我好運。我們已經進入美網第二週。這是非常重要的。在大滿貫的第二週有一

種奇怪的好感覺。球員休息室不再是擠滿人，而更衣室也非常安靜。我說奇怪卻感覺是好的，因為最終

週末舞台越來越近了。

Today I am hitting at noon and then take it very easy until tomorrow. Back to the hotel after
practice maybe I go for lunch in the city and simply rest in my room watching a movie.

今天中午我要打球，之後到明天以前就是放輕鬆。練習之後回到飯店後也許我會到市區用午餐，然後

在房間裡看電影跟休息。

I actually found a great website where I can pay an annual fee and download
(legally obviously) all the movies I want. So that is good.

事實上我發現一個很棒的網站，我可以付年費然後下載(當然是合法的)所有我想看的電影。所以很不錯。

And I am sure most of you want a thought from me on Andy’s defeat yesterday. It was a
surprise since he is one of the favourites to win here. I didn’t see much of the match, only the
end of it in the locker room. I am sure that he will win sooner than later a slam. He is young
and very talented.

我確定大部分的人都想知道我對於昨天Andy出局的看法。我很驚訝，因為他是美網冠軍的熱門人選

Hello everyone,

大家好

Back here writing this small post from NY before I go for lunch. Actually before I order room
service since I don’t think I am going out for lunch today. I did yesterday, after I practised
and came back to the city. But the day of the match I prefer to stay quiet and relaxed, eat
in my room, watch a movie, have a look at the internet, read all the papers and wait for the
time to go to the site.

吃午餐前回到這裡寫篇短的文章。事實上，我不認為我今天會外出用餐，所以我剛叫了客房服務。

我昨天有出去，在我練習結束之後，回到這裡到市區吃了午餐。但比賽日我比較喜歡安靜並輕鬆地

待著，在房裡用餐，看看電影，逛一下網路，看完報紙，然後等到要出發的時候。

I am playing second match after seven and so that you know I am leaving the hotel to the
tournament at 3.45 pm. This way I have plenty of time to get there, get ready, warm up
at 5.15 and then stay in the locker room waiting for the match. This would be a normal
routine day that I play. Simple, easy and keeping the energy for the match.

RN: I have my uncle as coach and when he doesn’t travel Francis Roig comes with me. In the end is having one coach only since I am traveling with one of the two. Never with both.

2. Did you have any secret tricks for dealing with the pressure when you were younger and less experienced? May

RN: I learned since I was very young how to deal and cope with pressure and bad moments. It is important to learn that, important to have fun while suffering. Not that I am a crazy but simply to learn to play and to stay in a match at tough moments. You can basically practice everything.

RN: I don’t have any special animals and I don’t think any animal represents my personality. I am a human being just like you.

4. Sometimes after you win a difficult point you yell something. Can you tell us what it is that you’re yelling and what it means? Dan

RN: Thanks, I didn’t mean to cut it so short but I agree it is more comfortable and Julien did a great job.

Hello everyone

I am writing this blog today after I came back to the hotel after practice. It was a very late
night yesterday. We got back to the hotel at almost 3am. You know after the match that
started so late it takes time to do all the work post match. I remember I’ve played matches
that ended later than yesterday but not too many. Once in Melbourne and probably yesterday
were the two later matches I’ve finished.

I don’t think that starting so late is convenient since no one is really fired up. The crowds
have to leave since they have to work the day after, people to to sleep and they also don’t
watch on TV. It is a no winner situation. Matches were long and clearly there is no control
over that but… It is still tough for everyone.

我不認為比賽這麼晚開始是方便的，沒有人真的喜歡。現場觀眾必須要離開，因為隔天還要工作，

7. What feels better – winning matches in straight sets or after a long fight? Conny, Germany

RN: Both are good feelings. It all depends on many other factors. Clearly to win in straight sets before a final is much better. But if it is the final maybe a big win is also cool.

兩者都給我好感覺。一切取決於很多其他的因素。在決賽之前能直落三贏球是比較好。但如果是決賽的話，也許一場大戰也很酷。

8. What movies have you been watching so far in New York and which ones would you like to see? Alice

到目前為止，你在紐約的期間看了什麼電影，以及哪一部你最喜歡？

RN: I have seen a few of them. Some longer like Empire of the Sun and some shorter and funnier like Fever Pitch.

9. Who is the worst football and tennis player in Team Nadal? Is it Benito? Atch

Writing this post today obviously from my hotel room but just minutes away to going to the site
for a big match tonight. Verdasco is playing at a great level here and it is always difficult to play
another fellow countryman and a friend. He went through those tough moments at a tournament
and managed to stay alive. We all go or have to go through those moments and the key is to
manage to win even when things are more difficult. You can’t always play at your best and the
rival, if he plays well can always beat you. That’s why it is so important to beat these moments and go through.

今天很顯然我是在飯店房間裡寫這個部落格，但幾分鐘之後我就要出發去球場，準備今晚的重要比賽。

Verdasco在美網打出高水準，而且要跟另一個同胞好友對戰總是困難的。他通過了種種艱難的時刻，

繼續向前挺進。我們都面對，或者是必須經歷那些時刻，而關鍵是要贏球，即使一切會越來越艱難。

So, easy and relax day today again at the hotel, just watched some youtube and a movie and got

RN: It is tough but I believe it is going to be better today. The conditions are the same for both in any case..

I saw yesterday most of the match between Roger andd Novak and they played at a very high level.

I am leaving shortly to the stadium where I am hitting at 10.30am. Quick warm-up and we hope it doesn't rain today. It would be a shame for everyone, players, fans, TV.

RN: Yes many of them. I am lucky that the photographers give Benito pictures and he puts them afterward in my computer. I have many of them and they are great.

landed I had a press conference and went straight to the hotel to bed ... Sorry about that. Then
I went to see last night Real Madrid against Ajax and enjoyed coming down to the pitch and
salute all fans.
